Gareth was born in Llanfairpwll in 1937. A student at The Liverpool College of Art, he was the first winner of "The John Moores Scholarship in Graphics"
A Senior Lecturer in Fine Art Printmaking at Falmouth School of Art in Cornwall, he returned to North Wales in 1988. He has exhibited widely throughout his life. On retirement he was able to extend his activities. For the Anglesey Transport Museum at Newborough he produced drawings of many of the vehicles in the collection (those are on show in the cafe) as well as completing murals for the walls.
More recently he has illustrated a book of poems by his daughter-in-law "Sea things" which has proved very popular.
"There is usually a strong narrative in my work. My images are concerned with my responses to the world in which I live. The drawings are not a direct interpretation but a carefully chosen subject to convey moods or feelings that I wish to explore. There is a need to look beyond the obvious. The subject is a vehicle to convey ideas".
